Inspired By Ina Garten

Woman writing goals in a journal

I’ve been doing some serious thinking as we roll into 2025 (as one does when the calendar flips), and I’ve decided that this year’s themes are going to be (insert trumpet fanfare): Risk and Connection.

Allow me to explain. Recently, a friend suggested I read Ina Garten’s memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens. I’ll be honest, I never really followed or watched her show before, but now? BIG FAN! Her journey is all about following her heart and—wait for it—taking risks. Yep, the queen of calm and cozy cooking has a bold side! She wasn’t out there living life on the edge or doing anything crazy, but she bet on herself. She listened to her heart, followed her instincts, and said, “I’ll figure it out.” I admire that so much.

It got me thinking about my own life. I’ve never been a big risk-taker, but Ina reminded me that you don’t have to take crazy risks to bet on yourself. Sometimes, it’s just about moving forward even when the path isn’t 100% clear and trusting that you’ll figure it out. So, this year, I’m committing to saying “yes” more, trusting myself, and maybe—gasp—stepping outside my comfort zone.

And it’s not just talk—I actually signed up for an Improv class today! Now, before you ask, no, I’m not planning to audition for SNL...ever.  But I am hoping to improve my active listening, trust my instincts a bit more, and up my witty repartee—because let’s face it, who doesn't love a clever retort?"

The second theme I’m focusing on this year is Connection. As I get older, I’ve realized that being with the people I love, makes me happy which is why I’m making it a point to reach out more, and not wait for “some day”.. For example, my Girls Weekends require no extravagance—just a good charcuterie board, some desserts, champagne, and pajamas.

Also, I’m making it a point to schedule more date nights with my partner and organize gatherings with friends and family. Sometimes, it’s the small, simple things that make the best memories, and I don’t want to let those moments slip away.

Speaking of connecting, I’m excited to invite you to connect with us for our annual Inspired Vision Board Workshop on Sunday, February 2nd. It’s going to be a fun, low-pressure event where we’ll reflect on our goals and set some big, bold intentions for the year ahead. Whether you’ve done a vision board before or this is your first time, this is a perfect opportunity to get clear on what you want to manifest in 2025. Plus, we’ll be in great company, and maybe even have some snacks à la Ina Garten. We’d love for you to join us! Click here to register.

So, here’s to a year of taking risks (like finally starting that project or saying “yes” to something new) and fostering connections that matter. Let’s make 2025 about stepping outside our comfort zones, and not waiting for “the perfect time.”

I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us both!

Cheers,
Carolyn
